Joshua Nathan was raised on a farm in the Mennonite village of Moundridge, Kansas. After two years at Bethel College on a football scholarship he transferred to the University of Kansas to study film. He made the move to Los Angeles to crew on Paul Thomas Anderson’s THE MASTER and has continued to work on a number of Anderson's sets (he recently even had a small acting role in LICORICE PIZZA). He also studied under Werner Herzog at his Rogue Film School. Later Joshua received his MFA as a Directing Fellow from The American Film Institute.

Joshua’s debut feature, THE DREAMS OF RENE SENDAM, made for $50,000 and shot in Kansas with local actors, was released by Mutiny Pictures & Bayview Entertainment theatrically, on Blu-ray/DVD, and streaming. His films have played around the world, including at the AFI Fest, Nashville Film Festival, and the Martha's Vineyard African American Film Festival. Alongside his personal film projects, Joshua also works as a commercial director, with clients including Warner Brothers, Amazon, New Balance, and the LA28 Olympics.
